Kristin Bauer van Straten seems to have spent a lot of time with the Masters FX people this year who made the special effects for Pam’s face falling off.
We know that Pam is very vain, but it seems that she is so vain that her vanity may be even more important to her than Eric.

When we last saw Pam on True Blood, she was running away. Marnie (Fiona Shaw) or the vengeful witch possessing her had just cast a spell that began rotting away her face. And when it comes to her looks, Pam doesn’t play around.

“Every season, we learn something new about Pam,” Kristin Bauer van Straten, who plays the vampire, tells The Hollywood Reporter. “So, last year we learned she had a vulnerable side. And this year, her vanity is probably even closer to her heart than Eric. I didn’t think anything could supersede Eric, but I think her face does.”

Bauer told us that while they were able to get the process down to four hours, that scene last week where she pulled off part of her face took 9 hours to test and another nine hours to shoot. And while we may have found the action disturbing, Bauer says she was so busy with the technical aspects of the scene to think about how gross it was. It’s the difference between “watching a surgery and being a surgeon,” she tells us.

Needless to say, Pam isn’t happy about what has been done to her face and will now search for her own vengeance against the witches. “She goes crazy,” Bauer quickly sums up what we should expect going forward.

“Throughout the years, I’ve seen other vampires get to do stuff. You know Alex gets to rip a body apart Season 2, I think it was the opener, and I was so jealous,” she says. “So, I wanted to see if Pam had this warrior feral side. And she does.”

But with tension rising between vampires and humans in this post-Russell Edgington world on True Blood, times aren’t right for Pam to go off waging war with the witches.

“The combination of Pam not being a strategist and her face falling off — and she is pissed – is great,” Bauer says. “And the different avenues she tries to kill and maim is so fabulous. But, I love that she’s a fighter.
